Every single thing that goes into the making of a movie comes out on screen. That is why the medium is so powerful. The contribution of every person in the production - from the actor to the writer, right down to the person who makes the coffee in the morning - is evident on the screen. Disharmony on a movie set is glaringly evident when I watch a movie. But sometimes disharmony serves the intent of the director - and these kinds of movie are often quite successful critically and financially. Generally I don't enjoy watching this kind of movie more than once.

The me the value of a movie can be measured in how often you watch it a second, third, and fourth time. I could watch the GODFATHER (1 or 2) everyday. I never tire of it. I feel the same way about some kinds of music.

Decisions made from fear never serve you. Try to watch yourself when faced with a problem when making a movie - notice when you are deciding an issue because of some fear.

Making movies, acting, life (you fill in the blanks) is not about success or failure - in the end we all lose. The only ‘winner' is the person who has a little bit of fun in the process of doing what he/she does - and finds a little peace.

To ‘try' is to struggle in a powerless situation. You can ‘try' as an actor to get a part in a movie - the ultimate decision is not yours. But you cannot ‘try' to write a script. You either do it or you don't. You cannot ‘try' to make a movie. Anyone can make a movie - the technical resources available today make it within anyone's grasp. You may not feel ready or you may be afraid to do it but I believe ‘trying' is reserved for situations over which you have little control.
